Nightwalker
Tonight, I took a brisk walk along the reservoir. These days, I can hardly run, given the poor state of my worn knees. But walking is still a pleasure that I can afford. Especially in the cool night air after a long day at work and seated in front of a computer, it is a refreshing exercise.
Since I started walking, I brought along my music in a form of an IRiver MP3 player. I had Schubert’s Lieder playing, inspiring German poetry recited by the talented vocals of Janet Baker. It was an excellent way to end a day. At one point, Ave Maria was playing, and it was such a beautiful tune!
On the far side of the reservoir, as I pass the by Bedok Reservoir Park, I caught a glimpse of a fiery white light streaking across the sky, from east to west. It disappeared in a flash, behind the trees. What was it? It was about the size of the jumbos that fly in and out of Changi Airport, visible in the distant horizon, but moving ten times as fast. Perhaps a meteor disintegrating in the atmosphere? Was it a trick of my imagination?
