Dealing with Virii

Trolling the web tonight and felt it was about time I performed a full system scan of my computer. So I downloaded avast! 4.1, after reading about its great reviews from Download.com (it had a 94% user approval rating!). Besides, my wallet was averse to paying hefty subscriptions to Symantec Corp.

So I started the scan, and an hour later, pop! A warning that one of my archived Outlook folders (a .PST) file was infected with an email virus, [VBS:Kak-A]. What was it? How did it get there? That folder had not been in use for almost a year now, and was this a false positive? Aargh - I can’t be sure. I’m now downloading Norton AV to double check if this “infection” is for real.

Hmm… Norton Antivirus claims that this file is safe. I’m guessing its probably a false alarm, but who knows? I could be a virus carrier - may crash my system when I open that file again in 20 years.
