New Toyota

I picked up my new car today. It’s a zippy little Toyota Vios with a 1.5l engine in a bright red chassis.

There’s something special about taking posession of a new car: unwrapping the plastic that covers the driver’s seat, being surrounded by the smell of new leather, opening the bonnet to see a spotlessly clean engine, and the best of all: having only 10 kilometres on the odometer. In fact, I’ve never had this pleasure before.

Driving the car felt easy and pleasant. The automatic gearbox shifted with only a bare hint of the transmission change and the engine responded immediately to the pedal. The interior was quiet (although not as well insulated as a premier marque, but hey, its far better than my old banged-up Suzuki) and the suspension was adequate. The panel fittings were a little basic and felt a little cheap, but there wasn’t too much to complain about.

The Vios is an excellent vehicle for a city-dweller. It’s affordable and reliable and I couldn’t have asked for anything more in a car. Looks like Christmas came early this year.
