Blogging Hazard
Blogging may be the latest trend to sweep the Internet in the past year. Even Google, the admired technology leader, has bought Blogger.com. Bloggers allow personal publishing direct to the Internet on a massive scale.
In recent months, several developments have clouded the issue about blogging and its consequences. In October, Delta fired an airline attendant over her online blog. Last week, Google terminated a new hire for the same reason.
It seems abundantly clear that those who blog must bear the consequences of airing their views. Some employers may hold a liberal view, and others not. Especially when the contents of online blogs relate to corporate intellectual property and business development, the writer must be doubly cautious.
This isn’t anything new - I’ve kept sensitive details of any work or other matters from this journal after my earlier lessons in respecting confidentiality. Ideas are dangerous - especially those which are improperly formed.
