Welcome to Sunnyvale

I’ve finally boarded the flight to San Francisco to start work in Sunnyvale.

The flight over was OK - 19 hours, with a stopover in Seoul. SIA offered 60 channels of movies, but their choices seemed to revolve around Jude Law/Julia Roberts movies. I watched “Closer”, “Alfie” and an Italian movie (European movies seem much more “life-like” and less glossy than American ones - they make great dramas), and caught as much sleep as the three infants in my cabin allowed me.

The Residence Inn in Sunnyvale is really great. It comes with a spacious room, a queen-sized bed, a sofa set, a desk and wardrobes. The kitchen has an oven, fridge, stoves and a full complement of cooking utensils. Most importantly, it has high-speed wireless Internet. They host a “Social Evening” every night from 6-7.30pm with free beer and food. I missed tonight (St Patrick’s Day) because of work.
